The standard pit is a regular octagon with eight sides of 2.4 m and is approximately 5.8 m across. Allow about 1.5 m of clear space around it for people moving in and out, adult supervision and access for maintenance. An overall planning allowance of roughly 9 m by 9 m is useful.
A church or youth group can assess a level area on grass, mulch, compacted gravel or synthetic grass. There is no permanent foundation, but the organisation should confirm drainage, access, surface condition and its own child-safety and supervision requirements before opening the pit.

The kit supplies brackets, galvanised bolts and hardware, printed instructions and a timber list. The committee can see the timber, tools and labour that sit outside the kit price.

What does the kit not include?
Timber, ground surfacing, tools, labour and a ball are not included. The timber shopping list identifies the sleeper counts for the selected height.
Can volunteers help with the build?
The build overview is written for basic tools and two people. The organisation should decide who is suitable, follow the printed instructions and obtain local trades advice if the site or work requires it.
How should use be supervised?
Set supervision to the organisation's policy and the ages using the pit. Check edges and fixings before use and inspect the timber and hardware periodically.
